Video Security Frame Rate Demo

Is your saved Video as good as your Viewed video?

HPI designs systems to record at their highest and best quality so that when you view or discover a crime or incident your achived video stored is as good as you can get with what you purchased. One aspect of achieving that high quality is the video frame rate. Here’s what you can expect.

PPS (Picture Per Second) is another term for FPS (Frames Per Second). The higher the PPS the smoother the captured video will appear. In return it will take more storage to store the higher PPS settings. The PPS can be configured on a per channel (camera) basis in Record Setup on all of HPI Security’s DVRs.

To the human eye the difference between 15PPS and 30PPS in imperceivable. Even 5 to 7PPS is an acceptable rate in most cases.  Based on the amount of harddrive you have purchased we program for the max the camera and DVR/NVR can provide, usually 15/25 or 30pps. And HPI always recommends the higher rates on a camera used for License Plate Capture or where a fast grab may need to be captured such as a shoplifter at a jewelry counter or a card cheat at a poker table. But if you didn’t buy enough hard drive storage space 7pps is usually the minimum to achieve video for larger picture frame images at higher quality for digitally zooming with greater detail and less blur or pixelization.
